Privacy Policy
Guided Tools ("we", "us") provides short, guided courses and free guides at guidedtools.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising trackers.
What we collect
- Account data. If you create an account: your email address and authentication credentials (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase).
- Learning data. Your course progress, lesson results, streaks, and preferences, so the product can work.
- Error reports. We use PostHog for error monitoring only: no autocapture, no pageview tracking, no session recording. When something breaks, an error event with a short reference code is recorded so we can fix it.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type) so we can improve it. In regions that require consent (including the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), analytics cookies are set only after you accept in the consent banner; declining does not limit your access.
- Local storage. The app stores your session token, theme choice, and onboarding progress in your browser's local storage. These stay on your device.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal data.
- We don't record your screen, keystrokes, or sessions.
- We don't set advertising or analytics cookies without asking first where the law requires consent (see Advertising below).
Advertising
Blog posts may show a small number of clearly labeled ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads; with your consent, ads may be personalized based on your interests.
- Consent first. If you're in a region that requires it (including the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), a consent banner (Google's certified consent management platform) asks for your choice before any advertising cookies are set. You can decline and still read everything.
- Change your mind anytime.Use "Privacy settings" in the page footer to review or withdraw your consent — withdrawing is as easy as accepting.
- Who processes what. How Google uses data from sites that show its ads is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Affiliate links
Some blog posts contain affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking one takes you to the partner's site, where their privacy policy applies. See our full disclosure.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of processors to run the service: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (authentication and data storage), PostHog (error monitoring), Google Analytics (usage analytics), and Google AdSense (advertising, on blog posts only). Each processes data on our behalf under their own data-processing terms.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR), you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email guidedtools@gmail.comfrom the address associated with your account. We'll respond within 30 days.
Data retention
Account and learning data are kept while your account exists and deleted on request. Error reports are retained only as long as needed for debugging.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update this page and the date above.
